DESIGN / BUILD PAVILION

The 2010 University of Colorado Design Build studio, led by instructor Brad Tomecek, designed two pavilions for local non-profits Feed Denver and The Urban Farm at Stapleton. The non-profits believe that through hands-on agriculture and environmental education, they can improve the lives of children living in high-risk, urbanized neighborhoods by helping to create a sense of positive self-regard and self reliance, a strong work ethic and hope. The studio designed and built the Learning Cube which marks the farm entry as an iconic open-air gathering pavilion and market. The Dairy House provides shelter for milking and shearing the animals. The pavilions were realized by student fundraising, material donations and found materials on site. [Design Build Facebook Page] (Photos by Nathan Jenkins)
