FAIRWAYS RESIDENCE
The Fairways Drive Residence is a single family home neighboring the Left Hand Reservoir in Longmont, Colorado. Adjacent to the city of Boulder and the local foothills, site views are varied with glimpses of the Flatirons to the southwest and panoramic prairies from north to east. A passive solar approach is driving factor for the home's orientation. Conceptually, a concrete plinth built into the landscape supports the main level. Given the variety of finishes concrete provides, texture variety became an exploration and celebration of the materials’ eclectic properties. The board-form concrete is implemented for the plinth and contrasts with the polished, panelized concrete forms on the main level. These forms distribute and divide spaces across the home all the while framing views across the site.
