Twin Lakes Cabin
The design for the Twin Lakes Cabin features a unique diagonal roof line that creates a dynamic architectural form. The 784 SF footprint adheres to the idea of a clean, simple and efficient living environment. Inside, a spacious loft provides a versatile bedroom space, while the open kitchen and living spaces offer a seamless flow for modern living on the main level. Carefully placed windows frame views of the surrounding landscape, fostering a strong connection to nature and drawing natural light into the interior.
Kissing Camels Residence
The Kissing Camels Residence is located in Colorado Springs sits adjacent to the Kissing Camels Golf Course and boasts fantastic views of the community, Garden of the Gods, and Pikes Peak. We are utilizing a planar language to organize program, control scale, and create layers of privacy. At the heart of this home is a tranquil courtyard that provides a place for respite.
The Green @ 38th
Tomecek Studio thoughtfully designed this park to serve as a community-centered green space, offering a blend of natural beauty and functional urban design. The Green @ 38th features a modern-industrial stage for events and performances and a striking shade structure that highlights the sky and creates a welcoming environment for gathering, recreation, and social interaction.
Chalk Cliffs Residence
Located in Nathrop, Colorado, the architecture of the Chalk Cliffs Project negotiates the contrasting views as two simple bars emerging from the landscape. In addition to separating the public from the private spaces, the bars also contain a circulation zone that emphasizes the expansive vertical contrast of the site, allowing simultaneous views of the cliffs above to the river below.
Black Hills Homestead
The Black Hills Homestead project is envisioned as a full-time residence, guest house, and fully functional barn. The essence of the architecture takes cues from the rural agricultural aesthetic on one end of the spectrum and contemporary living on the other end. The conceptual goal of the project is to use the structures to illustrate the evolution of how we use materials, harness natural light, and, most importantly, create and design useful spaces, all while portraying the evolution and modernization of architectural design.
Echo Mountain
Perched high above Echo Pass, this new retreat seeks to integrate with the landscape and nature in an intimate way. The Echo Mountain residence focuses on solids and voids allowing the interior spaces to frame the context and integrate seamlessly with the exterior. Built constructs scatter across the site in the form of pavilions that cater to the overall experience of place including a tea house and soaking ritual.
Sunset Pavilion
Standing atop a hill overlooking the park entry, focused on the panorama of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains beyond, the Sunset Pavilion marks the intersection of multiple paths along a regional trail system. In concert with 8 additional pavilions throughout the park, the Sunset structure speaks to the simplicity of construction and the honesty of natural materials.
Tulsa Annex Concept
The Tulsa Annex is a thoughtful transformation of spaces within an existing building. On the second floor, two prefabricated pods are integrated into the structural bays to house a podcast recording studio and a video production room. Extensive analysis informed the pods' unique angular design, driven by program constraints, structural considerations, and the need to maintain critical view and circulation corridors.
Salida Observatory
The Salida Observatory is an instrument for engaging the natural surroundings. The project actively questions the accepted state of excessive program (and the resulting space) while acknowledging this place as a mere stop off for exploring the adjacent Colorado back country. Focusing on integrating with the landscape, this project consists of a solid mass that is carved to frame views on the Sawatch Range, creates an opening to the sky, and brings the natural environment indoors. The program consists of four pods of differing sizes - a gear room, master suite, guest suite and living space - offers efficient, thoughtful living.
River Ridge Residence
The River Ridge Residence is situated at the edge of a ridge that overlooks the Tennessee Creek wetlands and the Rio Grande railroad. The residence perches above the valley, taking in the views of the surrounding peaks including Mount Elbert and Mount Massive to the southeast. The project shares its long southern face with the sun for passive heating due to the extreme cold climate at 10,500 feet altitude. The process initially focused on designing within set parameters of modular pre-fab construction with the concept based around "pods" that interconnect via glass corridors. The upper level bedroom suites float above the main structure while cantilevering toward the trees and mountain views.
