WAYSIDE COMMUNITY TEMPLE
The Greater Wayside Community Temple expansion enhances the church’s ability to serve its congregation and the surrounding community. The proposed additions will enhance the church’s role as a community hub, offering new spaces for worship, education, recreation, and public events that strengthen the mission outreach. The addition includes a fellowship hall, K-12 classrooms, support facilities for patrons, and an overall update to site infrastructure. The structure creates a protective urban edge along Peoria Street while focusing transparency toward expansive open space to the south. Natural light and views were primary considerations in shaping the vision of this new center. The existing masonry was used as precedent, and becomes the base for the floating contemporary volume above.
